The Company’s management has demonstrated success in developing and selling synthetic bone graft materials in the US market. Members of the management team were part of the senior executive team that guided ApaTech Ltd., building sales of the Actifuse® Synthetic Bone Graft product line from inception to its subsequent sale to Baxter International Inc. in 2010.

Paul Byerley - Chief Executive Officer

Paul is an experienced commercial leader of startup and early stage companies in the U.S. with 27 years of sales and distribution experience in biologics and medical devices. Paul served as Vice President of Sales for Benvenue Medical, Baxter Biosurgery, ApaTech Ltd, and Interpore Cross. He has been responsible for regional sales and distribution for Endius, Surgical Dynamics (U.S. Surgical), Surgin, and the Iolab subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. He was Vice President of Orthobiologics responsible for Actifuse sales throughout the U.S. Paul has a bachelors degree in Molecular Biology from California State University, Northridge.

James J. Cassidy, Ph.D. - Chief Operating Officer & President

Jim has established a solid track record of accomplishment in the medical device industry as Chief Executive of successful companies like Electromed (NYSE:ELMD), CERAbio, and Cartificial A/S. He served as Chief Operating Officer/Vice President at ApaTech Ltd, Vertebral Technologies, and KMI. He began his career with Collagen Corporation and Smith & Nephew plc. He has 20-plus years of experience in orthobiologics business and product development and has brought ten advanced medical products to market in the last decade. He was the Vice President of Global Development of ApaTech, developers of Actifuse. Jim has a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.

Charlie Emley

Charles Emley had more than 30 years leading and building information technology and management consulting companies. He served as Corporate Officer, Partner and Managing Principal for Unisys, IBM, Deloitte, and E. I. DuPont & Co. and in government as Deputy Assistant Secretary U.S. Department of Interior and Executive Office of the President.

Charlie is currently engaged as Senior Advisor to angelMD, an online community of healthcare startups, physicians and investors that through community engagement highlights promising investment opportunities for its members. He serves as Managing Partner of angelMD Catalyst I, LP direct investment fund.

He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a BS in Industrial Management from Lehigh University, and was a Captain in the U. S. Army.

Gilbert Ortega, MD, MPH

Dr. Gil Ortega is a board-certified orthopaedic trauma surgeon in Scottsdale, AZ and member of Artoss’ Clinical Advisory Board. At Sonoran Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons, he is co-director of the largest orthopaedic trauma fellowship program in the US. He is the vice chair of surgery at HonorHealth Osborn and a professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the University of Arizona College of Medicine. His clinical interests include complex fractures, treatment of polytraumatic injuries, and fracture non-unions.

He has completed specialized trauma training at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX, the Trauma Center in Hannover, Germany, and with Dr. Tim H. Pohlemann at the Universitätsklinikum des Saarlandes Klinik in Homburg, Germany.

He received his BS from the University of Houston, MPH and MD from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed this residency in orthopaedic surgery at Harvard Medical School. While a student, he completed research fellowships at Harvard, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine, and NASA.
